More information: From 1968 to 1971, Yes was a band in flux, diligently laying the foundation for their signature progressive rock sound. While their stage presence and musical direction were still developing, their fervent passion was undeniable. Each performance showcased their evolving musicianship, revealing a band gradually coalescing into a tight-knit unit. During this era, the emphasis was squarely on the music itself.
Their live shows began to unveil the intricate arrangements and masterful musicianship that would come to define their progressive rock style. The sonic landscape of Yes underwent a significant transformation with the arrival of Steve Howe on guitar. His contributions added layers of texture and complexity, enriching their musical palette. Though visually less extravagant than their later productions, these early concerts offered a glimpse into the nascent spectacle, both musical and visual, that Yes would ultimately become renowned for.
