More information: German multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and control freak t (also known as Thomas Thielen) is back with his 7th album ‘Solipsystemology’ – the third part of the musical novel begun with ‘Fragmentropy’ and ‘Epistrophobia’.
Classically educated as a piano player and singer, he quickly discovered that “the girls in 7th grade seemed to fancy guitar players more” so he persuaded his parents to buy a guitar and promptly learned how to play. Today he admits to being a strictly underaverage musician on quite a few instruments, none of which he is capable of playing properly!
From his earliest time as a musician, t has always been interested in sound design. Hence writing, arranging and mixing have become an integral part of his creative process, as evidenced in the idiosyncratic sound textures and frequent ‘against-the-grain’ implementation of instruments and voices.
His music has always been known for its combination of resonating melodies, avantgarde ‘soundscaping’ and strangely natural sounding odd metres. With ‘Solipsystemology’, t takes this one step further. Adding to the complexity already inherent in the music, he’s created a web of hints and layers to be found in the visual presentation, from the style and layout of the lyrics in the booklet to the art history behind the cover artwork.
